Delete your account
Last updated: October 9, 2026
You can delete your account in myShelf, the reading app by Nubico Software Technologies, and the data we keep about it whenever you want: from the app or, if you don't have it at hand, by writing to us. Here is how to do it, what is deleted and what is kept.
From the app
- Open myShelf and go to Profile.
- Near the bottom of the screen, next to “Delete all data”, tap “Delete account”. If you don't have an active subscription, you'll also find it on the subscription screen, next to “Sign out”.
- Confirm. If the app asks you to, sign in again to check that the account is yours.
The account is deleted right away, whether you sign in with Apple, with Google or with your email. Your books stay on the device; to delete them too, first use Profile › Delete all data.
Without the app
Write to hola@nubico.tech with the subject “Delete my account”. So we know which account it is:
- write from the email you use to sign in to myShelf (your email or your Google Account's), or
- tell us your @ if you have one.
If you only sign in with Apple and have no @, we don't keep any email we could recognise you by: write to us anyway and we'll tell you how to show the account is yours. If what you send isn't enough to check, we'll ask for something else before deleting anything.
A person handles these requests by hand: we reply within one month at most and, once we've checked that the account is yours, we delete it and confirm it to you. If you can install the app and sign in to your account, deleting it from there is immediate. When we delete it for you, revoke myShelf's access yourself from your Apple or Google account settings.
What is deleted
- Your account and all its ways to sign in: Apple, Google and the email with its password, along with any pending codes.
- Your library backup: books, reading sessions and settings.
- Your social profile with its reviews, your avatar photo, who you follow and who follows you, and the blocks you placed. The copies of your social profile saved with the reports you received are kept, though (see below).
- The sessions open on all your devices.
When you delete it from the app, myShelf's access to your Apple Account is also revoked, if it was linked, and to your Google Account, if you signed in with Google on that device; otherwise, revoke it from your Google Account settings. You can also revoke it yourself at any time from your Apple or Google account settings.
What is kept
A few things are kept, no longer linked to your account, for the community's safety or because the law requires it. The details are in the privacy policy.
| Data | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Reviews and photos we removed for breaking the rules, the reports you received, the blocks other people placed on you and any social mode suspension. They are linked to encrypted fingerprints of your ways to sign in, from which your Apple ID, Google Account or email can't be recovered. Each report also keeps your @ at the time and a copy of your social profile as it was when you were reported (name, avatar, books and reviews; for an avatar photo, only which one it was, not the image), and each block, the @ you were blocked by. For a removed photo we only keep a fingerprint of the image, not the image. | So they cannot be dodged by deleting the account and signing in again. | For as long as the service exists; a block, until whoever placed it removes it or deletes their account; a suspension, until we lift or delete it. |
| Your @handle, reserved. | So nobody takes it if you come back. | 30 days; then it becomes free. |
| The feedback you sent us, without your account or your @. | Fixing bugs and improving the app. | As long as it helps with that. |
| Usage and diagnostic data. | Understanding what works and fixing bugs. | Deleted automatically after 90 days. |
| Your purchase history. | Complying with tax law. | As long as the law requires. |
Your subscription
Neither deleting your account nor deleting the app cancels your subscription. Cancel it in the store you bought it from: on iPhone or iPad, in Settings › your name › Subscriptions; on Android, in Google Play › Payments & subscriptions › Subscriptions.
Deleting some data without deleting your account
- Profile › Delete all data deletes the books and sessions on the device and your library backup.
- Turning social mode off deletes your social profile, your follows and your avatar photo.
- In Profile › Ways to sign in you can remove any of them, except your only one or the one you use on that device.
For any other data, write to hola@nubico.tech.
